Songs not to listen to on a cold and snowy night...
I've been looking so long at these pictures of you That I almost believe that they're real I've been living so long with my pictures of you That I almost believe that the pictures are All I can feel
"There was nothing in the world That I ever wanted more Than to feel you deep in my heart"
There was nothing in the world That I ever wanted more Than to never feel the breaking apart
Remembering you, how you used to be Slow drowned You were angels So much more than everything
Looking so long at these pictures of you But I never hold on to your heart Looking so long for the words to be true But always just breaking apart My pictures of you
If only I'd thought of the right words I could have held on to your heart If only I'd thought of the right words I wouldn't be breaking apart All my pictures of you
The Cure's "Disintegration" is totally the best album for cold weather or rain. I also really like Low for cold and rainy days and nights. I love "Disintegration" so much, esp because I'm really an album guy rather than a song guy, and as an album "Disintegration" is amazing, especially the transition between "The Same Deep Water as You" and "Disintegration."
My favorite cold weather song is Low's "Last Snowstorm of the Year:"
last snowstorm of the year
when we were young we wanted to die but the sound of a drum and the words of a child brought different light now no one can tell the winter was nice but the summer is hell
the ground was so hard the nights were so long but we suffered the dark and we wrote all those songs still i was a fool i covered my ears no i would not face the last snowstorm of the year no i would not face the last snowstorm of the year
Some winters I seem to have sort of a reverse SAD- I get depressed as winter ends, and that song always reminds me of those feelings.
See you in a couple weeks, I hope, for pdd game night! mandie and I are going to Mexico for our belated honeymoon, so we won't be there on Monday the 12th or the 19th, but after that we'll be there like usual!
