2005 IN 40 QUESTIONS
1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Bartended on Madeline Island
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make New Year's resolutions, because I always forget what they are, so I break them anyway.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, my sister. A girl named Paige Ann.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, unless you count my residents at the nursing home where I work. Then, yes.
5. What countries did you visit?
Hmm... none. Not even Canada.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
more books, a house, peace
7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Probably Labor Day weekend. It was the weekend of the Pride Festival and the weekend I found out I was pregnant.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably the Pride Festival or maintaining a wonderful relationship with Ezra...
9. What was your biggest failure?
Losing my best friend due to my own stupidity.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Despite the morning sickness and the inherent problems brought on by a stomach the size of a watermelon? Not really.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A car with no problems.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Uhhh.... Marissa's, for really going after what she wants.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own at times, Shiner's, Kerry's, Val's, members of the Pride Committee's...
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, beer, more beer, gasoline...
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Falling in love with Ezra. Seeing our baby for the first time.
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
"Hurt" by Johnny Cash
17. Compared to this time last year, you are:
Happier, more at peace with myself, pregnant, less active
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spending time outside.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Beating myself up over my mistakes and shortcomings
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Well, I *spent* Christmas handing out gifts to my residents, going with Ezra down to my mom's and heading up to my grandpa's. It was a nice time and the first time I got a chance to see my niece.
20. How will you be spending New Year's?
I *spent* New Year's at home watching "The Day After Tomorrow."
22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Yes.
23. How many one-night stands?
Heh. Less than 10, more than 1. I'm not really a one-night stand type of person.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
"ER"
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone. I dislike immensely some of the members of the Pride committee and some of the people I work with, but it doesn't really matter in the long run. As someone close to my heart says: "Ain't no time to hate."
26. What was the best book you read?
Too many books were read to think of which one the best one was.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Robert Plant's new album "The Mighty Rearranger"
28. What did you want and get?
A potato masher.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Star Wars: Episode III. Napoleon Dynamite.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 28, my mother came up and we went to the Scenic Cafe for lunch, then to the Brewhouse for beer and appetizers with Ezra.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not having the heartbreak.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? Comfortable.
34. What/who kept you sane?
Music, reading, bathtubs, Shiner in the beginning part of the year, Val, Jason, and Marissa in the middle part of the year, Ezra in the latter part of the year.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Clifford the Big Red Dog. Ooh... Bob the Builder! Or Stewie from "Family Guy."
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The current President... latest: the wiretapping scandal.
37. Who did you miss?
Christopher
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Ezra.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
Always be honest first and right away, otherwise you might lose that which you cherish. Also, watch out - even the people you trust can hurt you.
