Yummy Potatoes

2 lbs frozen hashbrowns (thawed)
1/2 cup melted butter
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 cup onion
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 pt sour cream
10 oz grated sharp cheddar cheese

Topping:
2 cups crushed corn flakes cereal

I love getting new recipes - this one came from a friend of one of my residents at the nursing home where I work. I bartended a brunch party for her and E helped out in the kitchen. This was one of the things they had to eat at the brunch. It is absolutely fattening and absolutely delicious. Enjoy.

The new apartment is great - it's so nice to have extra space and not be crammed into a small space. We keep it fairly clean - I should say, E keeps it clean. I help. I'm still trying to figure out what to do in the bedroom. We have to fit a bit more furniture in there plus figure out what to do with the boxes we don't have storage for. I guess I may have to pay for a storage area, or keep the Buick as a storage space. lol.

I've been listening to MPR and yesterday they had a really interesting program about Evangelical Christians. It seems that some Evangelical Christians are upset because of the way they're portrayed through Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and their ilk. They want people to know that the majority of the EC aren't like those idiots and to not judge Evangelical Christians by them.

My questions and thoughts are this: if they are so upset about being represented by Falwell, Robertson, and other such types, then A) why do they continue to tithe to them, and B) why are they so quiet about their discontent? I think it seems that you are known by the company you keep - if you surround yourself by idiots, you will be considered an idiot. If you don't like that portrayal, then change your surroundings or remove those who make you look like idiots.

Out of town for an activity convention for a few days... it's the first time E and I have been apart in almost four months. Crazy. It'll be a good break for us - not that we need one - but sometimes you appreciate more what you have when you don't have it for a little while. (And since I'm going with two older women who are fun, but won't see the humor in listening to "Alice's Restaurant" three or four times in a row, I know I'll appreciate E when I get back!)

Baby is 8 1/2 weeks - got ultrasound pictures of her today. She still looks a bit blob-like, but I saw her heart beating! It was very cool! Becky sent me a book called "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy." Now, I know I've often said I'll read anything - well, I think I finally found something I *don't* like. Amazing. I'm going to read it a bit more to make sure, but I think it definitely goes into the lame-o category...

I've started to tell my friends - it's *hard* for me to figure out how to tell people. There's so much pressure and then if you forget or don't tell someone, they feel hurt. Or they feel hurt that they weren't the first to know. I should just take out an ad in various publications that I know my friends read and say "tamara's pregnant. call her after you read this." It's much easier, I think.
(Honestly, though, I attempted to tell Shiner first, via email, since she wasn't talking to me. She refused to read the email.) I told Grace, Jason, and Leon the other night - all of them were happy for me. I hope they'll start telling people.

Halloween is 27 days away!

Boo!
